DID YOU KNOW?

The majority of people who know me, outside of high school, would never guess that I drove a school bus as a substitute during my senior year!

Yep back in those days we were able to get our drivers license at 16 and I drove a bus with kids my age! What was the DMV thinking? One of my good friends in high school's mom was good friends with my mom and they both drove school buses at our high school. So Beverly and I decided we would get our licenses and drive part-time as subs.

The first day I drove the kids home from my high school was hilarious!  As I sat in the driver's seat my fellow classmates were entering the bus with a look of disbelief.  And of course a few of the boys made smart remarks about my ability to drive so I answered with, "well that's Ok because that means less people I have to drop off."  As we left school the bus was somewhat quiet until I pulled up to the first stop and pulled the doors with red lights flashing.  Everyone clapped with joy as they saw that I was a safe driver!!

Can you even imagine in this day and time having a 16 year old drive your kids home from school?  Not only did I drive high school, I also drove junior high and elementary schools.

Now You Know!!!
